All the stuff that I try to use…
There are many, many great resources on the internet. Below are the ones I love the most.
Maps, rules, great inspirational descriptions, items, tables…
What I have chosen to adopt
[Update] House rule: Sharp Shooter, Great Weapon Master, is removed from play
The ability to take a -5 penalty to hit, to give 10 extra damage with the hit is removed from play.
For an excellent article on the Sharpshooter and Great Weapon Master feats, read the blog of DM David.
Difficulty classes for ability chekcs; DC 15 is too much for a medium hard check, DC 12 is more reasonable, or even DC 10.
How to Run Combat in the Theater of the Mind, has been a great inspiration for how to get our online campaign to work without graph paper, minis, etc.
Calendar of the Realms.
Maps
Dyson logos makes the greatest maps and I use them for most of my locations.
WFRP
I love the grittiness of the Warhammer universe, and would love to play WFRP.
D&D is easier for my group, so for now it is only inspiration.
AD&D
AD&D isn’t where it started, it started with the red D&D box, but AD&D was where I fell in love with roleplaying.
Raging Swan
Raging Swan Press makes great short and to the point articles and material that I make a lot of use of. Having 4d4 Harpy’s nests is a great way to start and give my imagination something to feed off.
DND Beyond
DNDbeyond.com is also a place I visit regularly.
It is intensely annoying that they hide some content, e.g. the PHB content when I have already bought the physical book, but the stuff that is free is still great.
Sly Flourish
Sly Flourish also has a whole lot of content that sets my mind on a journey, and it is another website I like to visit regularly.
Adventuring party
For more on the adventuring party mentioned in update #8 – see the website on Gloamhold by Creighton Broadhurst.
Alignment chart
The current party is a complex composition, and this chart shows the general differences in world view.
John Terry
Character depth is a fantastic source of inspiration for GMs and this is a fantastic resource for creating characters with depth – The Mother Of All Character Questionnaires
The place where it all takes place is the Forgotten Realms – I’m eternally thankful to all the people who have created a wealth of material over the many years the campaign setting has been open for all of us to participate in and use for our own games.
Thank you Ed Greenwood
